Still In Georgia

Got rather lost today but found a place to park the truck at the last minute, in a chamber of commerce parking lot that said no parking--that's my guy.

He made it to his first drop this morning an hour early, then tried to follow their CallQuam directions to second drop, got lost, found them picked up the trailer, got lost and will make the drop on time tomorrow he hopes but is sitting where he is unwanted but he figures they are closed and he will be gone before they wake. Anyway he took pictures.

This first I am pretty sure is in Texas!

Thus was last night when he first stopped in Georgia! Seems to be pretty nice back there for this time of year!

Then these 2 were on his way after he got lost and found himself sometime today!
That is what I remember most about the south. Look at the shoulders on the road, nonexistant!

And here he is getting so brave he is taking pictures and even on a freeway there is a car passing him on this itsy bitsy road. Check the mirror.

But it is gorgeous and I am jealous. He said he could see his breath this morning down there. I told him I could see mine in the house with the heater on! He was complaining of cold and it was 24 here. But today did get nice eventually. I love Central Oregon.

FORGOT TO STATE THESE WERE TAKEN WITH OUR NEW GZONE PHONES! Go VERIZON! Except we so far have not had any better coverage on the back roads but oh well we love our phones.

Headed for Georgia

Wow, it is really happening. He has his second load going to Georgia. He sounded calm this morning but was breaking up so bad am not sure. He delivered his load on time, picked up his next load on time and managed to back an empty trailer into a spot that only had 2 foot to spare so he was very confident when I talked to him. Was just leaving the remnants of El Paso about 9 this morning.

Lets Try Again

Load to El Paso due to pick up at 7 pm tonight, not due until Saturday figures has 36 hours to go 7 hours worth of driving time. BUT it is a real load with real stuff in his trailer. Shockingly true if it happens. This is becoming ludicrous but at least if he gets this load he will have paid for his keep this week as he figures he spends about what 1 trip driven 7 hours would make per week. So anything above and beyond this will be free money. Got to love new jobs. Did I mention Tina has one? YEAH.

Back at Terminal

Called to say he was back at terminal, had his CallQuam logbook corrected was going to take a shower and SLEEP then he would put himself back on line for a load. Nighty, night Scott.

Lots of Nothing Going Anywhere

Scott found out his load was cancelled before the fleet manager did. But got another within a couple of hours to go to El Paso so YEAH, not. As soon as he picked up the load the trailer was RED FLAGGED, bring it back to the terminal for something or another. Okay then the Truck itself told him that his air bag ride suspension was messed up back to terminal. Well then the 4 seals that do something with the wheels I THINK, are leaking so he had to go to Frieghtliner who told him that they would have him out by midnight. He spent the night in their lounge and says the truck looks like it has not even been touched. He is pretty bummed out. Then to top that off he is getting a sore throat. Says he thinks he must have held the phone to close when talking to me as my allergies have had me hoarse, coughing and choking all week. I can either put up with them or sleep, the only two options as the medicine knocks me out.

Long story short he is sitting in Phoenix still. Seems as the company told him that he could get a motel room on his money but otherwise he is stuck and can not sleep in the truck as it is in the shop--POOR SCOTT!

As for frustration I can beat him yesterday though. I talked to the IRS, SSA and the online place I did Mary's Taxes yesterday. WHAT IDIOTS THERE ARE EVERYWHERE. SSA has decided Mary was born in 1915. YEAH! Tina is taking her over today to try to get it straightened out 1 more time as we did this in Idaho when they decided she was born on 7-21-21. Geez. Work Calls.

Going to El Paso

That sounds a little like jumping out of the pan and into the fire heat wise but he is just happy to be moving. For one thing he can run the air conditioning when he is moving but not when he is sitting because of that APU thingy. I think this means he will be going past Tuscon but probably just on the freeway at 60 or so MPH. I'll tell him to wave when he goes by north of the city Louana.

Headed For Phoenix

Yesterday he took his load to Walnut and returned to the terminal, then went to WalMart and back to the terminal. Finally decided he was not getting anything else and went to bed. Just fell asleep or maybe almost and CallQuam went off. He was to pick up a Van and take it to Phoenix. So he got up, hooked up an drove some last night. Got up this morning and drove some more. Here is a picture of a rest stop he stopped at on the Arizona border.

First For Real Load Delivered AND On Time!

He called to say that he messed up when the sent him load verification in the middle of the night and put himself on working so when he gets going on his truck this morning, is going down Riverside Drive and his driving time is done (oops) so he pulls over and tries to figure out Qualcom but no luck so he calls in and they tell him what he did wrong and how to fix it. He gets back to where he can drive his truck, finds the place and pulls in, WRONG place. Turns around finds the correct place and is on the dot on time. And had no major problems backing in. He sounds tired because he did not sleep worrying about his first day on the job other than that he sounds happy with himself, just wishes that he could find a longer haul job to get out of LA and maybe California.

OOOH YEAH!

His first trip! They sent him to Walnut CA, told him to turn on exit 24, which there was not one. He checked his atlas and found exit 14 went back, turn, got to Walnut and to the place he was supposed to pick up the trailer at AND no trailer (well van, temperature controlled no less) but who cares it is not there so there he sits trying to get someone to figure out what he is supposed to do now.
He thinks this is a bad way to start. I feel that maybe there is only upward to go so maybe he got it all out this first attempt. At least he has a bed to sleep in so just think of him in his new home tonight at some truck stop and say nighty-night!

Koryna Summed It Up

They made him ride a bus for 1 1/2 days, stay in a motel for 2 nights, gave him a truck so he could sit in the parking lot of the terminal all day. This truck does not have the APU or whatever that heats and cools it without running the truck so he is in humid weather at 80 in a truck and hot.

His fleet manager does not like the truck he got because he can not go to Canada in it. He wants him to try to trade another trucker for his newer nonclassic cab truck that can go into Canada as Scott has a passport. The newer ones look like at the top of this blog or the background truck in his picture of his truck. So we will see what happens as always time will tell. Maybe when I hit post on this it will change his luck.
