HEES HOME

So I picked him up yesterday from Bend and brought him home. He is tired from the long trip on the bus but did see all the relatives in town and gave out hugs, took a shower and Mary took us to dinner, then it was lights out. However every time he talks it is another story so should be good for quite while.

He is on 30 day unpaid leave of absence, call in every week to see if they have a truck. So he is home for awhile probably. So probably not a lot of news for a month or so or until he decides to take another trade under his belt. Last night's fortune cookie said he had water and a boat in his future. Cruise or working fisherman who knows?

On his way

So he did not get a truck. I tried to let it not bother me but of course it did but his feeling like a dud upset me much more. I hate it when he feels like a failure, low self esteem whatever but he is over it (HIDING IT) now.

He just left St. Louis and will be in Denver approximately 10 in the morning Thursday, then up to Portland and back to Bend figures 1:30 0r 2 in the afternoon. My emotions are riding way too close to the surface. Asshole stated he did not care who came to pick him up. I told him he was hurting my feelings and so he changed it to if you have to work I will understand you not picking me up. Good cover. Anyway we will see. Tina took Simon for a foo-foo visit yesterday and then foo=foo'd Tia too as we can do her nails. So Simon is all ready to see daddy but Daddy does not want him to meet him at the station either. So he will have to stay home with Tina or I whichever does not go over (TINA). So then on to our new life. He does get to call weekly to see if they have found him a truck so that is good. He did last through 3 days before they gave him a ticket so that is hopeful. Isn't it?

TESTING COMPLETED

He finished his CPL or whatever he called them went for his interview. Did not get a truck. Did not get sent home. Did get sent back to motel until they can think it through and see if they can find him a truck tomorrow. My nerves are kind of bad right now. His I am sure are worse but he seems calm.

In a MOTEL ROOM in Indy

He has arrived. Marcel is history. He is happy but exhausted does not do uncertainly well. He said was going to get his stuff organized and take a shower and off to bed. Probably not but what ever. He also said that Monday morning at 7:00 he is scheduled to begin testing out for his truck. And that he has a roommate whose just completed his first day or orientation Robert E Lee from I'm thinking Kentucky and Scott is sharing some horror stories with him. Hopefully not a lot just enough to get him through realistically and so he expects what really will happen. So probably nothing more this weekend and then Monday a diatribe on testing out and Tuesday results I HOPE.

Supposed to be dropped in Indy today

I think. The company has changed his drop place and time like 4 times in the last 2 days so have no idea but it does seem to be happening. Latest is back to Indy today so we will see should know by the time he calls tonight for sure.

CHOCOLATE

He is picking up a load of 33000 pounds of candy tomorrow from Brook Chocolates and taking it to Tennessee. I told him that would be good load to bring home as I am absolutely craving it right now. Anyway just excited about maybe getting his own truck and to see what Monday brings but bored as they sat in a WalMart parking lot all day long.

Driving towards change

Okay it is finally happening, but he does not sound that happy, just kind of blah but says neither him nor Marcel slept last night.

Here is the plan as it stands now. Marcel is taking leave of absence starting Friday. Scott will get dropped in Indianapolis and on Monday he will start testing out for his truck. He is worried because somebody told him that it was a really old clunker but so what right. Maybe by Monday he will have his spirits up enough to realize that he is on his way to resolution, job or no job, etc. So I am at least PSYCHED.

SORRY ABOUT THAT-Life got in the way

Since we last addressed the trucking industry mostly nothing shattering happened well he has been through 2 more states Maine and New Hampshire. Thought they were pretty neat surprised how little population was there. Also he rode through NEW YORK CITY. Did see the Empire State Building, several big stadiums. Said he was not close enough to the water to see Liberty. Same day he got to drive through the Shansoah Valley. Went to North Carolina again and then headed back to Illinois and to Lancaster PA which is where they were headed today.

My roommate has arrived, oldest granddaughter Tina and because she is here Tamera is showing up a lot so really 2 granddaughters for company. So that has been distracting and then the hot water heater went out THANK YOU ALLEN could not have dealt without you, and Koryna fell out of the pickup when we tried to unload it ourselves and spent time in the ER making sure that she did not have any broken bones. She did not but she will probably be off all this week and who knows how much longer. We thought she destroyed my mailbox but even that Allen was able to straighten and put back up. WHAT A GUY! We, Scott and I are so thankful to have that good of a friend.

Scott called Robert who has not called back after saying he would look into a truck for him so he will call back tomorrow and get the bad news of how long he thinks we will have to wait. I really think it is harder on Mary than either of us but he really, really, really misses Simon so maybe it is super hard on him also. Simon really loved on Allen and now he is really happy because Corky Tina's dog is only a year older than him and they play and play. So he is not missing daddy quite as much. I miss my hubby a little more each day but am finally on my feet after last week's ordeal and might make it through. Was wonderful to know I do have a support system but as Scott says he just can not leave us women alone without one of us getting hurt. I suppose it is true but we do try to cover. NEXT the remodel of the kitchen. JUST KIDDING! Night everyone.

Says make that 2 more

Said this morning he was in Maryland, guess on the way to New Jersey. I am not sure that does nto mean he will also go through Delaware, is that correct? Anyway we will see by this afternoon. All is well. Tina is here or in town anyway.

Headed to knock off another state

He said that they finally figured where they go next. To Vineland New Jersey sounds like wine country to me. Anyway they are picking up the load at 3 am and are supposed to have it there by 4 pm and only supposed to be an 11 hour drive so should do good. Maybe he will learn something about the New Jersey Turnpike, I have heard that term but really do not know anything about it maybe it only goes to New York City as that is almost always what you hear it in conjunction with.

Another interesting day. Last night ended up with a cold shower. Koryna came over and exposed the hot water heater and very wet floor. Allen came over and checked it out and Koryna called around for pricing for a new one. It is only 17 years old but the lower element is corroded and all the insulation clear up on top is soaked and there was no visible leaking point for the floor being so wet and moldy so figure has a leak and has had for quite some time. Anyway will get it dug out and removed a little drying time (very little) put something down to keep the floor from rotting through from the weight and wait for Scott to come home as that is what he told us to do. My opinion is I should pull up the subflooring and replace it so he does not have to remove the waterheater again. You know the do it right the first time type of thing. But might be too much effort for a couple of women or too expensive for right now.

I have decided I want to replace the floor in the kitchen and paint the walls yellow go with a yellow, blue, red theme. If we can pull it off before Scott gets home all the better then I do not have to fight with him about it as he will not care as long as he does not have to do it.

Time OFF

Sorry work has been really busy and Scott's job has been really depressing so took some time off from writing. As you can tell I am not sleeping 1 AM and wondering how I will get through the schedule tomorrow.

Here it is. He is still making rookie wages, as in slave labor because they do not have enough trucks but if he comes home he can not get unemployment because he quit a perfectly good job. So starting tomorrow I am going to be filling out job applications for driving jobs for him. Well tomorrow when I finish typing. I just could not tonight.

Tina and Cody broke up and it breaks my heart. I liked him so much but if it had been meant to be it would have worked out. She will be moving in with me Thursday so 3 dogs and 2 females Scott probably will just as soon not come home anyway.

He got another state South Carolina. Headed back to Indiana. He of course is just not talking much but trying to make the best of it and spending hours on the phone trying to get something rolling for getting the truck. He has 34 hours well he did when I talked to him at 4 PM that he can not drive so will ride with Marcel tomorrow and be ready to drive on Thursday.

His BIRTHDAY 59th will be FRIDAY so everybody should call and wish him happy B day though it wont be cause he wanted to be home for it. I NEED A HUG and I think he is ready for one too. Have a good night.

Outsided Chicago

I was pretty groggy still when Scott called but sounded like he did not get much sleep because Marcel drove all night. However it also sounded like Marcel delivered and picked up another load, while Scott was not sleeping and Scott did not know it. Like I said I was groggy so maybe not. Anyway they are back alost to Chicago and were delivering a load but unsure where they were going next.

While I was on the phone Marcel told Scott he had 10 hours left to drive and he would be cleared. So figure tomorrow. He also figures however the it is a 2 day process to get his own truck. I do not know why but that sounded like his best guess. So gets his hours done tomorrow Monday and gets to a terminal Tuesday takes 2 days which would be Thursday. Probably will not be home for the weekend. Oh well sometime and 1 day is as good as another. I have been working weekends too so who will know. Anyway just thought I would share.

Koryna This is For You!

I think I figured out how to make these come to you guys in emails wheneever I post.

He was in Green Bay and is now headed to Missouri with a big bunch of DIAPERS. Mr. Grand MOM all over again. He is pushing to get as many hours in as possible. They had a chance to go to Canada but Marcel still has not gotten his visa back so it was a no go. Maybe Scott will get to spend some time up there too.

Anyway had an interesting day took Mary and Becky to Bend and then WalMart. Mary insisted in staying in the car and then got all impatient because we were taking so long, Oh Well we just chided her about it and ignored the fact that she was sulking. We really need to be nicer as she always takes us to lunch when we go but that tires her out and then she does not want us to shop. She will get her feet back under her again. I also got to watch Momma Mia. LOVED IT! Thanks Charlene. If any of you do not want the extra email just let me know and I will take you name off the list.

3/4 of the states

Just realized while I was having my melt down over the job situation he completed his 36th state having driven the truck in. So as it stands only 12 left of the lower 48. When he gets all of the lower 48 in will have to take him on vacation to Alaska. He has been to Hawaii did RNR there during Vietnam. So then he would have been in all the states. How great would that be. Maybe I should become a truck driver. Can you just imagine. I can't yet. I can imaging getting to ride with him to all 48 but not me driving. I just need to fingure out a job I can do from the cab of a truck.

Any way now that I am going to make it through the weekend without a total melt down. I thought I would share this map with you.

Thanks goodness for persistence

So Scott calls Angel. He has quit...but instead of the usual run around he was told that there were jobs available in 48-state and to call back on Monday or when he completes his hours. THANK YOU LORD! Truly pleased with my persistence to keep him asking questions so that they knew he wanted to work. So now if all of this does not change throughout the weekend maybe he will be home by the next weekend and then on to his job again. Cross your fingers everybody and a little prayer would not hurt. HOPE we can get along for a couple days if he does come home. JUST KIDDING! But somebody should call him and let him know I do expect a hug when he makes it this way in case he forgets.

Grown Up Time

So he has been through 2 more states Virginia and West Virginia. Says that they have passes that are 3300 ft high and remind him of the south santiam. So was loving life yesterday. Then he called Angel his trainee counselor. Bad news. Yes they can process him as done with training and send him home as there are no jobs, or he can stay on the truck as a trainee.
So how do you decide which is best for you? Insurance, pay, chances of getting a truck. I gave him a list of about 5 cut to the bone questions to ask Angel then we have to decide. He will have a lot of free time today as has 3 hours of driving time and can not deliver the load until 6:30 so we should learn something today. Hate that this always happens on a weekend so I have to worry for so long. Me I was up until 3 am worrying. Scott said he slept fine. I wish I could just say "It will work itself out or I will deal" like he can. Sure would help my nerves. I have to consider every possible scenario and then decide which is best and I can handle best instead of just letting it happen and dealing. I am not a problem solver I am a problem avoider. Actually I am both but prefer being an avoider which is why I worry a subject to death. Enough have to get to work. No playing today.

Home time is over

They took off from Springfield IL sometime this morning and headed down into 64 toward Kentucky but then cut east, then south and eventually will hit a little bit of Kentucky and into Charlotte NC.
Said he saw something he has not seen in 46 years today A FOX!. I do not know that I have ever seen one. Said it was running down the street in a small town they passed through. Seemed to like going down 64 as it was rural and lots to see. We know of 3 people that live in NC but he is not going near to Jimmy Walls house, I am unsure where Jimbo Ledford lives and Charlene and Tina's grandparents I think he is going fairly close to them. We met them when Charlene was 1 so gives you an idea of how long it has been seen we have seen them.
During their stay in Springfield he filled out all his paperwork for going into his own truck that he had to that point. Marcel handed him his paperwork that he had filled out and Scott finished updating his log book. He is hoping that they get to go cross country after this load to add in miles or rather hours driven. Coverage has pretty much sucked all day though I go two small calls and he talked to his mother. Think we are going to have to come up with a better plan like verizon or ATT or whatever. Verizon is what my sisters have so they would be free but not sure they are planning to keep them and they are so expensive. Oh well we will see. Maybe Tmobile wills till be our best bet. Anyway this trip will add 1 more state. Thought it would add 2 but they did not head towards Virginia after all.
